Marrying Public Relations and Search Engines….

A new PR firm that hopes to marry Public Relations and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is being launched today.  The company, SEO-PR, is offering services to companies and agencies that bring together PR and SEO to more effectively promote web sites.

Bovine Blogging…..

Newsweek has a story this week on how Dr. Pepper [Flash warning] is using weblogs to promote it’s new drink.  The company has set up it’s own blog to provide the “background” to the drink and it’s trying to encourage other bloggers to link to it and distribute free screensavers etc.

Red Herring calls it a day after ten years….

If you haven’t already heard, Red Herring has closed it’s doors.  Although the magazine has certainly been in trouble since the downturn, I’m surprised and saddened that it hasn’t survived shake-out.

There’s a lot of smug comments all over the Internet about the closure, but I don’t share their pleasure.  Sure the Red Herring started to resemble the Yellow Pages during the dot-com riot, but the Herring pre-dated the boom and had a market outside the dot-com brigade – at least it used to.

With Upside having already shuttled off this mortal coil, the number of magazines covering the pulse and future of the technology business is dwindling.

Sad.
